GTA VICE CITY - SHQIP The story starts in Albania, in 2005. That's when a young man was playing GTA: Vice City. After the game was over, he decided to set up his own Albanian version of the game with an Albanian name for this fictional city by using Google Translate. He started adding hints to himself once he noticed he wasn't the only person who played the game, and slowly people began to figure out that it was supposed to be set in Albania. The game is known in Albania as "GTA Viceshiri" (), which means "Vice City of Albania" in Albanian language. The game has gained massive popularity, especially among the younger generations. The main reason for this is because most people don't understand or appreciate English, thus they cannot play the original version, since it never appeared on Albanian stores. It has been mentioned by a journalist from an Albanian newspaper that the modding was a prank made by kids playing video games and that the modder was a lad from Shkodra who thought it would be funny if people were to think he made Vice City as an Albanian version. After many months of playing the game, the modder decided to make a website for his version and also asked if he could make it his own with an Albanian name. The creator of the site and server is none other than Ardi Noli who is now known as "Lambert". Ardi's connection to the modding began in 2004. He translated GTA San Andreas into Albanian and continued with this; but he started to notice that there was no version of Vice City yet, so he decided to create it. The game is played on a private server called "Lambert's Mod". It has been hosted by Lambserver for over ten years. Having hosted thousands of players in the past months, his server is still alive with over 500 active users. The server offers many things that the original game doesn't have. For example, you can play it in English or Albanian language, you can find weapons, vehicles and motorcycles around the map, you can rob banks and hideouts etc. There are no rules in this modding project since it is just for fun. The number of people playing this game has been increasing every second thanks to Lambserver's initiative to start this project after getting bored of waiting for an Albanian version to be released on stores. He noticed that most people had no interest in their original game, which is why he decided to make the project popular. After overcoming many difficulties, Lambserver managed to create his own website with English and Albanian versions; he made it so you can choose which language you want to hear or read. He also made the decision to create the server so that players could play this game without having to download it themselves.
